About Black Yoga UK
I'm Davina — London born and based, 250hr qualified & fully insured Black yoga teacher, and the founder of Black Yoga UK.
This space exists because representation on the mat matters. For too long, yoga in the UK has been pictured one way — and that picture rarely included global majority or marginalised individuals. I’d been in too many yoga classes as the only, or the oldest, or the biggest or just unseen - I created the Black Yoga space not for exclusivity but for real inclusion of everyone.
Black Yoga UK as a community is a safe space where Black practitioners and those aspiring to learn more about the practice can share and show up fully. See themselves reflected, and practice without having to explain, diminish or justify their presence in the room.
This isn't yoga stripped of its roots and repackaged for comfort. It's a practice grounded in breath, body, and truth — fiercely flexible in the way we move, and fiercely uncompromising in what we stand for. Respectful of Yoga’s origins and conscious of its real purpose.
I've spent over 20 years learning, growing, and sharing this practice — through Black Yoga UK, through my own teaching, and through a personal journey that's taught me how powerful it is to return to the body when life pulls you away from it.
I don’t work at chain yoga studios or gyms - I curate an environment in specially selected spaces where time and distractions are suspended. My yoga classes are centered on safety (physical and emotional), connection and traditional Hatha practice.
I offer unique invite only classes, one to one private sessions, corporate sessions and specially curated workshops to share practice and bring yoga to those who haven’t felt welcomed or connected with the practice before.
Yoga isn't an escape from who you are. It's an acceptance of and the way back to yourself.
Whether you're stepping onto the mat for the first time or you've been practicing for years, you're welcome here.
Come as you are. Breathe. Belong. Grow.
